Yesterday, in California, in July, it rained.
I'll give you a minute to let this sink in.
I'm not talking about the mountains or anything like that. Right here, in the mid-to-southern part of the bay area, in the Valley, water fell from the sky for several hours. I've lived here most of my life, and I can't recall rain at this time of year... ever.

Now, try to convince my too-Californian children that it's normal to rain in summer, *and* that rain is supposed to be warm and inviting! So three years ago we took them home to Maryland, in July, and they were having a freak cold spell. It rained: cold rain. Mother Nature has a freaky sense of humor.
